Audient Beefs Up Facility In East Cowes

Jackson Analogue

Isle of Wight, August 2008 – A 48 channel Audient ASP8024 console has been installed at Studio Luka, a privately owned studio serving many major labels and artists including recent remix work for The Kills, Swedish songstress Lykke Li, Kid Rock and the recently-hailed “Soul Of Ireland” Laura Izibor.

The large configuration recording desk was chosen as a result of much research by its two owners, Jim and Rob Homes. “Our old desk was very limited in scope and we were looking for something to give us that extra space in the mix,” Jim explains. “Cenzo Townsend at Olympic Studio originally turned us on to Audient. He has nothing but praise for his 8024.”

“The desk has given depth and weight to everything we work on,” he continues. “That was always a struggle on our previous desk. Together with our IZ Radar V Classic multi-track recorder we can now create a fantastically open sound.”

When they’re not working with rising stars and remixing for major labels, Jim and Rob also use their studio to write, record and mix for their own band, Jackson Analogue who shared a stage with The Who on their last UK tour. Working so closely together has had its down sides in the past, according to Jim. “Now we have the ASP8024 desk it’s easy for the two of us to sit behind it for extended amounts of time and not get in each other’s way!”

Already off the beaten track in the Isle of Wight, Studio Luka is tucked away in the old water tower on Queen Victoria’s estate in East Cowes. Jim describes Studio Luka’s set up: “We have a drum booth but apart from that everything is in the same big old room.” Far from discouraging business, the quirkiness of the place seems to make things all the more interesting. “We’ve signed two more deals in the last week, so there’s lots going on,” he says.
